Post/Stand Off Insulators

One of the most overlooked insulators on a precipitator is the stand off insulator. Stand off insulators provide points of support in long bus runs to maintain adequate clearances between the high voltage bus and grounded precipitator components. Stand off insulators are found in bus ducts to center the HV pipe or cable within the duct and also within precipitator penthouses to suspend exposed HV pipe or cable from the penthouse roof.

As with other insulators, stand off insulators are selected for the environment in which they are being used and for the voltages with which they will be used. Stand off insulators are available in both porcelain and alumina.
